By Anthony Gadaleta
This is my photographic journey through my homeland of Italy beginning on the Southeastern coast on the Adriatic Sea in Molfetta to the beautiful ‘Trulli’ in Alberobello to the ancient city of Pompeii to the splendor of the Amalfi Coast! Come along and see for yourself the majesty and unique beauty of this incredible destination I call my second home! This is from my most recent visit in 2015.
MOLFETTA, ITALY
The beautiful and historic town where my family is from and perhaps a best kept secret of Puglia! This is the ‘porto’ or fishing marina where boats go in and out getting the fresh catch of seafood which is the primary cuisine of the region and where you get a spectacular view of ‘the duomo’ or cathedral in all its glory!
IL PORTO DI MOLFETTA
Admiring the sailboats and infinite blue skies on a perfect July summer day from the ‘lungomare’ or port of Molfetta.
OLD CITY OF MOLFETTA IN PUGLIA
This the pathway to Il porto from the Old City (Molfetta Vecchia). Perhaps one of the most painted locations in Molfetta for its unique architectural perspective and view so I had to snap a photo!
WANDERING PUGLIA
Wandering Puglia in campagna past olive groves and sun drenched skies of the quintessential Italian summer! One of the many things I admire about Puglia.
ALBEROBELLO, AN UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE
Alberobello, an UNESCO world heritage site in Puglia. Famous for these stone structures modeled in a dome design that resembles the ancient past of the region and the beauty of the region kept alive today! The flowers blooming in the center frame were a sight to see!
I TRULLI
Famous for ‘i trulli’, which are ancient structures known for their eclectic architectural design.
DETAILS CAPTURED IN ALBEROBELLO
Capturing Details in Alberobello, Puglia, Italy. Wandering along any street corner or alleyway you’ll instantly find something beautiful to snap a photo of and admiring the architectural details that make this destination truly one of a kind!
CATTEDRALE DI ALBEROBELLO
Cattedrale di Alberobello or cathedral of Alberobello. Modeled in the similar architecture, this is one of the prettiest cathedrals I have ever seen and just admired how they incorporated so much of the Trulli design in its overall appearance. A sight to see for sure!
ANCIENT CITY OF POMPEII
Ancient city of Pompeii (Pompei in Italian) is a wonder to visit! Discover the ruins of a once ancient empire now standing for generations from the aftermath of Mt. Vesuvius’s eruption. It’s quite the place!
CAPTURING THE RUINS OF POMPEII
Ancient ruins in Pompeii. I love admiring all of the architecture, history, and details at every corner.
MT. VESUVIUS FROM POMPEII
Looking to Mount Vesuvius from Pompeii and just imagining the eruption and how much it has changed the city to become the unique destination to visit still preserved today.

POSITANO, ITALY
Positano, Italy on the beautiful Amalfi Coast is one of the most popular destinations in the region among tourists and locals alike.
BEACHES OF POSITANO
La spiaggia di Positano, or the beaches of Positano. Fun fact: the sand is made from volcanic ash!
CHURCH VIEWS IN POSITANO
La chiesa di Positano (St. Maria Assunta), a local church in Positano. It just has that quintessential Amalfi Coast charm with it’s vibrant colors and gorgeous architecture!
