We are taking a step back in time again, this time for the classic "The Enchanted April."
Written By Linet M.
This is another story in the contemporary literature, taking place in Italy. “The Enchanted April” by Elizabeth Von Arnim, written in 1922, is about four English women who decide to go on a vacation with self-realization purposes. They destination? Italy (dah!!) The place they choose to stay? No better choice than a medieval castle on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea for the entire month of April!
A movie has also been adapted from this novel with the same name. The film is mainly shot in Castello Brown, Portofino, Genoa, and Liguria in Italy.
A review on the film published by The New York Times beautifully summarizes the plot of the film:
“ [The movie] revolves around the appealing notion that a trip to Italy, specifically to a medieval castle with a glorious view of the surrounding countryside, will cure any ills. The voyagers are four colorfully incompatible Englishwomen who all discover, to their delight, that travel can indeed be a broadening experience”
Here are a couple pictures, just to give you an idea what a heavenly destination these ladies chose for their vacation :)
